NANAIMO — Further information on the evolution of 250 Terminal Ave. N takes place with an upcoming open house.

Hosted by BC Housing, presentation boards for the planned permanent supportive housing component of the site will be set up and members of the project team answering questions on Monday, March 11 from 6-8 p.m. at the Beban Park Social Centre room C.

“We are currently proposing to build a five-storey building with 50 studio homes on this site. These homes would be for single adults experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Nanaimo,” stated BC Housing on its website where updates on 250 Terminal Ave. N are provided.

BC Housing intends to build a neighbouring second five-storey building with 44 affordable homes for low income families, seniors and people with disabilities.

Currently, 250 Terminal Ave. N is comprised of temporary transitional housing, which has been in place since 2018.

The province recently announced three years of funding to continue supporting the transitional housing at 250 Terminal Ave. N, as well as fund 50 additional temporary housing units in the city’s Chase River area.

In a recent interview with NanaimoNewsNOW, the City of Nanaimo’s manager of community planning Lisa Brinkman said the 250 Terminal Ave. N proposal could be presented to council as soon as March.
